Tafiki and Chikoko Trails Camps

Tafika’s location on the east bank of the Luangwa River north of the Nsefu Sector makes it ideal for those who enjoy the serenity of the bush. With six spacious chalets (including a family chalet and honeymoon suite) all built from natural materials, Tafika can accommodate up to 14 guests in a warm, friendly atmosphere. Built round the trunks of stunning sausage trees, these thatched chalets all have en suite facilities with showers open to the stars.

Enjoy a range of activities at Tafika including game drives, walking safaris, cycling safaris, cultural village visits and microlight flights (May only).

Head out on a morning walking safari to the Chikoko Trails Camps which incorporate two small and exclusive bush camps, Chikoko Tree Camp and Crocodile River Camp, from which unparalleled walking safaris are offered. Located a few kilometres upstream from parent camp Tafika, Chikoko and Crocodile are only accessible on foot and offer a fantastic bush experience – being immersed in the idyll of remotest Africa. On foot, the minutiae of the bush come to the fore: the smells; the essence of the macro world and a sense of timelessness.

Mwaleshi and Takwela

Mwaleshi is a walking camp located in the vast wilderness of North Luangwa National Park. Hidden within a scenic bend of the Mwaleshi River, the camp is a truly special and remarkable place, unlike any other. There are few roads in this remote area and the majority of activities are done on foot, following existing animal trails through pristine savannah. All senses become attuned to the surrounding bush as guests experience the variations in the magical diversity of the area. With just four thatched chalets rebuilt annually out of natural materials, en suite bathrooms open to the stars and uninterrupted views of the spectacular Mwaleshi River, the camp offers you a genuine feeling of solitude and seclusion. 6 people are accommodated in the camp.

Takwela is situated on Remote Africa’s private land at the confluence of the Luangwa and Mwaleshi Rivers, about 10km downstream of Mwaleshi. Takwela has 4 chalets accommodating eight people, with each chalet enjoying stunning views across a resident hippo pod to pristine bush on all sides. Activities include guided game drives and walking safaris in the mornings and afternoons, with regular stops to take in the surroundings, view wildlife and examine spoor. Enjoy a leisurely pace with a mid-morning tea and coffee break and on the night drive, a sundowner stop for drinks and snacks.
