a) The Company Serendipity Safaris, (hereinafter referred to as The Company) acts as a booking agent for hotels, airlines, air charters, bus companies, ground transportation, boat purveyors or owners, and other independent contractors providing accommodation, transportation, and/or other services abroad. Each of these companies is an independent corporation with its own management and is not subject to the control of The Company, including, but not limited to, various overseas ground operators.

b) All bookings like those described above are accepted by The Company, as agent for independent overseas ground operators. The transportation, accommodations and other services provided by the ground operators are offered subject to the terms and conditions contained in the tickets, exchange orders or vouchers issued by them and/or their suppliers. Because The Company does not have the right to control the operations of the independent operators and their suppliers, it cannot be liable for any personal injury or property damage which may arise out of these services.

By using the services of The Company, you signify your agreement to the Terms and Conditions as laid out below. Serendipity Safaris (hereinafter referred to as The Company) is registered as bona fide tour operator in South Africa and is operated by Serendipity Safaris, registered in Australia. The Directors and management reserve the right to control any items offered by The Company and take no responsibility for errors or omissions found on their website or documentation. The Company reserves the right to change information on theirs website without prior notice. Furthermore, The Company will retain your personal details for its own trading purposes only and will only divulge your personal details to operators and establishments with whom The Company is trading.


In order to confirm clients’ reservation, Serendipity Safaris requires a 25% deposit payment at the time of booking. Failure to do so will result in your reservation automatically being cancelled. The balance of payment is due 8 weeks (60 days) prior to the commencement date of your itinerary. Bookings made within 8 weeks (60 days) prior to departure are subject to full prepayment at the time of confirming the reservation.

Please note that should quotes be in foreign currency the amount will be converted to South African Rands on day of payment. The rate of exchange on the day that the transaction is processed will be used to determine the equivalent South African Rand amount with any resulting foreign exchange differences or bank charges being for the client’s account.

Clients are welcome to settle payment by means of a bank transfer – in this instance the amount will be converted by your bankers on presentation of our invoice. It is the client’s responsibility to inform and instruct their bankers that the net invoice amount must equal the funds clearing into the Serendipity Safaris bank account and that ALL bank charges are for the client’s account.

Serendipity Safaris is committed to ensuring that your travel arrangements remain according to plan. Together with its partners and associates may alter, cancel or change travel arrangements at any time should they feel it justified in the interest of safety. Such changes will be communicated timeously in order for alternative arrangements to be made where necessary. It is assumed that the deposit payment and your final amount paid is because you have agreed to the terms and conditions set out by Serendipity Safaris, its suppliers, associates and related companies and partners and thereby will not hold liable any claim against any person or organization as a result of any changes, cancellations, damage to one’s property, injury, death and any other unforeseen occurrences whether it is due to negligence by one or more of our staff or any company.  Therefore, you have indemnified the various organizations and individuals aforementioned in any such events.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation of all bookings must be in writing and shall only be effective on receipt of the written notification to the company.

On cancellation of a confirmed reservation Serendipity Safaris shall, subject to the relevant provisions of the Consumer  Protection Act No. 68 of 2008 (as amended from time to time), and to the extent that the provisions of said Act are applicable, be entitled to the payment of the following cancellation fees if cancellation of any booking, or any part thereof:

•            Is received 120 – 31 days or more prior to arrival, the deposit will be forfeited.

•            Is received 30 days prior to arrival, a 100% cancellation fee of reservation value will be charged.

•            No Show / Early departures Guests forfeit 100% of the full Reservation Value


As flexible as SERENDIPITY SAFARIS are in relation to future bookings, it is a pre-requisite that guests take out comprehensive travel insurance as soon as the deposit has been paid; including “cancel for any reason” (where still available) to ensure any funds lost can be recovered, including emergency evacuation cover as well as cover in the eventuality of delays. Delays may result from weather and/or acts of god and flight delays or cancellations may occur. Please make sure to keep your personal belongings with you at all times whilst on safari. We cannot accept responsibility for the misplacement or theft of articles whilst in our camps or during your travels. The logistics of inter-camp communication, as well as the scheduling and costs of charter flights, may not be favourable for the return of articles unless you are willing to pay for the full cost of getting your goods to you. This issue is possibly the most prominent form of inconvenience for guests who have left their goods behind at a camp.

We also strongly recommend that you obtain the following types of insurance, which are commercially available:

a) Accidental death and disability

b) Major Medical

c) Emergency medical evacuation

d) Loss of personal effects

e) Trip cancellation

Surcharges and Exchange Rates

a) Although The Company hopes that it will not need to levy surcharges it reserves the right to do so on the invoice amount, if this becomes necessary. The Company will endeavour to notify you in writing as soon as it is aware of any likely surcharge, and you must pay the amount of such surcharge no later than fourteen (14) days after written notification has been received (depending on the circumstances). If the surcharge is not paid within such time, The Company may construe such non-payment as an act of cancellation on your part ;

b) Rates used in the itineraries are based on tariffs and exchange rates valid at the time of printing. Should a rate vary against the US Dollar by more than 3%, The Company reserves the right to recalculate the tour cost and apply the differential as a surcharge. Any refund made by The Company shall be in its sole and absolute discretion.

Travel Documents and Vaccinations

It is your responsibility to ensure that passports, visas, travel permits, health certificates, inoculations, international driving license, or other documentation required for the trip are obtained and are in order. It is your responsibility to meet any additional costs incurred either by yourself (or by The Company on your behalf) as a result of any failure by you to comply with such requirements.


If you have any cause for complaint while traveling, you must immediately bring it to the attention of Serendipity Safaris who will attempt to resolve the situation.

Force Maejeure

a) “Force Majeure” means, in relation to Serendipity Safaris, any circumstances beyond the reasonable control of Serendipity Safaris (including, but without limitation, acts of God, explosion, flood, tempest, fire or accident, war or threat of war, sabotage, insurrection, civil disturbance, or requisition, sickness, quarantine, government intervention, weather conditions or other untoward occurrences);

b) If Serendipity Safaris is affected by Force Majeure it shall forthwith notify you of the nature and extent thereof. Serendipity Safaris shall not be deemed to be in breach of these terms and conditions or otherwise be liable to you, by reason of delay in performance, or by non-performance, of any of its obligations hereunder to the extent that any such delay or non-performance is due to any Force Majeure;

c) If Serendipity Safaris is affected by Force Majeure it shall be entitled to, and may in its sole and absolute discretion, vary or cancel any itinerary or arrangement in relation to the trip. Payment of any refund by Serendipity Safaris to you as a result of the non-performance of any of Serendipity Safaris obligations hereunder shall remain in its sole and absolute discretion although Serendipity Safaris shall use its reasonable endeavours to reimburse you where possible. However, Serendipity Safaris shall be entitled to deduct from any refund recoverable the reasonable actual and potential costs to Serendipity Safaris of the Force Majeure;

d) Regarding civil unrest, once Serendipity Safaris has investigated the prevailing situation as it deems fit, it shall remain in Serendipity Safaris sole and absolute discretion whether to proceed with the trip. You may in such circumstances cancel the trip. However, if, after having made all reasonable and proper inquiries, The Company is of the opinion that the trip may proceed, no refund will be payable to you.

We have the right to alter these terms and conditions at any time and will keep you updated should this happen.
